Retail shopper data project

Large chain stores are making lots of money using personal information about shoppers in their loyalty programs.

My name is Jon Keegan and I’m a reporter at The Markup. I’ve uncovered a lot of information about how stores collect shoppers’ data. But I need your help to go further. If you are a regular shopper at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, or Home Depot and a resident of California or Virginia, you can exercise your rights to request a copy of your shopping data — and The Markup can help you do it.

If you think you might be interested, just fill out the form below to get started. Your contact information will only be used to contact you for this project and to keep track of any requests you authorize us to make on your behalf. We will delete your contact information after our project concludes. If you have questions, please email me: keegan@themarkup.org

Thank you!
